Scenes from the Palers' Fair, May 2002 (2)

Jonas Söderström in Croydon, UK

Fans from 19 countries socialised before the gig.

Here you may recognise Larry Pennisi, Sam Cameron, Wolfgang Lieke, Ken Stasion, Procol's Dave Ball, Hans Tammes, and Thomas Raa Olsen among many others.

Above the bar hangs the Polish banner, presented as a raffle prize by Hermann. This item also decorated the scene of the Palers' Convention in Manchester, 2001.

Fans gather to watch the 1967 film of the first-ever Brooker / Fisher / Trower / Wilson / Knights gig (thanks, Hermann and Michel), which was introduced by Frans Steensma.

Matthew Fisher listened with pleasure to the adventurous and forceful playing of David Knights on these tracks.

The badges, with quotable Keith Reid lines on them, were a notable feature of the afternoon. The hard-working Daniel and Henrik Söderström (above) were responsible for sales (the overall winner buys his badge, left) ... which went a long way towards defraying the cost of the TV, VCR and DVD gear.

Guests of honour who drew the winning lyrics for the afternoon raffle were BJ Wilson's brother and sister Richard (left) and Pam (right) – Roland is on the microphone.

In the evening, the final two prize-winners were drawn by Gary Brooker and Matthew Fisher.
