Cancelled broadcast reinstated!

The full story of the German Procol broadcast, its abrupt cancellation, and the letters written by fans of the band to get it reinstated on the schedules, may be read here. But read on for the very decent letter sent to a Paler by the Editor of the Radio station in question, himself a pianist and organist, incidentally. He is also the author of 1979's Rollende Worte - Die Poesie des Rock (Rolling Words - The Poetry of Rock ) which makes three references to Keith Reid.

Dear friends of the Radio Concert

zunächst möchte ich mich für den Ausfall des Procol Harum-Mittschnitts im NDR 2 Radiokonzert am 21.4. entschuldigen, vor allem dafür, dass ich in der Anmoderation keine Erklärung für die Absetzung gegeben habe. Der Auftriit von Procol Harum war seit längerer Zeit für das Radiokonzert geplant und ist dann leider sehr kurzfristig aus einer Kombination von technischen und rechtlichen Gründen und programmbedingten Einwänden abgesagt worden. Zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme der Ansagen konnte ich daher noch keinen neuen Sendtermin nennen, dennoch hätte ich natürlich die Absage am 21.4. kurz erwähnen sollen...mea culpa.

First I have to apologize for the cancellation of the radio concert on 21 April with the Procol Harum recording, esp. for not having given any explanation for this cancellation of the show. The Procol Harum performance in the Radio concert had been planned for quite a while and at last was cancelled very briefly for a combination of technical and legal reasons and reasons lying in the structure of our programme. So, at the time, when the introduction for the Robbie Williams concert was recorded, I could not comment on these facts, but anyway, I should have mentioned the cancellation of PH in a few words, sorry... mea culpa.

Ich kann Ihnen jetzt aber einen neuen Sendetermin versprechen, der leider nicht so "bequem" wie die Radiokonzert-Zeit montags um 21.05 Uhr liegt. In der von mir betreuten Reihe NACHTCLUB auf NDR Info(früher NDR 4 Info) senden wir immer in der Nacht von Dienstag auf Mittwoch um 1.05 Uhr Live-Mitschnitte im Nachtclub-In Concert. Das Procol Harum-Konzert ( das ich persönlich nur wärmstens empfehlen kann) läuft in der kommenden Woche in der Nacht von Dienstag (29.4.) auf Mittwoch(30.4.) ab 1.05 h. Programmhinweise dafür gibt es im Internet unter www.ndrinfo/ Sendungen von A-Z/Nachtclub etc.

Now I can promise you a new date for broadcast, which unfortunately is not as "comfortable" as the regular Radio concert time on Mondays at 9.05 p.m. In NACHTCLUB on NDR Info ( formerly NDR 4 ) which I'm the editor of as well, we also broadcast live recordings. You can hear us regularly in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday at 1.05 am in the morning (Berlin time). The Procol Harum concert (which I personally can highly recommend) will be transmitted next week in the night from Tuesday (29 April) to Wednesday (30 April) starting 1.05 a.m. Information you'll find on the internet under www.ndrinfo/ Sendungen von A-Z/Nachtclub

Ich kann mich nur noch einmal für die Unannehmlichkeiten dieser Programmänderung entschuldigen und versprechen, dass wir im NDR 2Radiokonzert und im zusätzlichen Angebot im NACHTCLUB/NIGHLOUNGE auf NDR Info weiterhin spannende Live-Konzerte anbieten werden.

Once again I only can apologise for all inconveniences resulting from this change in our programme schedule. I promise that we will offer further highly interesting live concerts in our NDR 2 Radio concert and in the additional NACHTCLUB /NIGHTLOUNGE on NDR info.
