'Too Many Poets'

So Close to Him (Dino Charles)

Key to authors' pseudonyms

I was lying there with my arms by my side
The world’s gone dark I must have crossed the divide
I see a light as bright as my love for you
I float towards it through a ceiling or two
And I am flying, on air currents I stay
I am flying like a bird just on its way
To see you.

I was soaring over hill tops and trees
I feel the speed of the wind and the breeze
I see a shadow and I know it is you
I hover above you for a moment or two
Then I am crying for I see plain as day
You were lying and you’re now on your way
To see him.

Your arms reach towards him and you start to caress
You hold him so closely and your lips start to press
On his body and mind, why is life so unkind
I don’t know where to begin
Now I can see that you’re so close to him.

I’m pulled away now in my throat there’s a lump
My eye’s quickly open I hit the floor with a bump
I rub my eyes now was I dreaming of you
I feel my teardrops and I know it was true
I thought that flying was a thing to enjoy
It’s not worth trying if it’s going to destroy
Me and you..
