AWSoP unclearly many things

Bill Barrett

Bill Barrett writes to BtP:

A Whiter Shade of Pale is clearly many things
and, by definition, unclearly many things.
It is the best song that has words.

Folks respond by questioning why people question
the guitar was most clear herein RT was listening and playing
(gee I don't know that I liked PH for the guitar and this song)
the song is an undriving drive.

Somehow, this song sings to me
the groupie thing is the distraction
it's a woman, a BMW, a vodka, a rail, a slam,
it's just a matter of being off-track
and that's the only place one can function from,
and this "one" functions.

There's no apology there's no wisdom
just sharing that some people need to, and CAN,
follow an unusual path.

But, if I could explain the song, I would have written it.
And that would, indeed, be redundant (and beyond my skill,
and yet, not the song would give me permission).

Asked if the above constituted a poem, Bill replied

I think out loud sometimes,
seems to be what I call thinking

I could be a musician if I had tone
formatting these spaces
make things look like poems
I find that choosing line-endings encodes more meaning
than color
