Gary Brooker on Jools Holland's 2001 Hootenanny (1)

Gary Brooker (of Proul  Haven') performs A Whiter Shade of Pale and Ray Charles's I've Got News for You on Jools Holland's 2001 New Year's Hootenanny. GB is playing a Hammond C3 on the blues track with clearly a pianistic approach and the organ sounding a bit tinny and un-Leslified.

The songs sound a bit sloggy and overly lush with Holland's R'n'B orchestra but this is a common happenstance of playing with different units.

The large clock backdrop reminds us that this programme is transmitted in the lead up to the first hours of the new year

Indefinite articles in short supply at the lean end of the year

We don't know who arranged AWSoP for big band

Snowing

Could be Jools Holland back there on the Hammond, or his younger brother, Chris

Much blasting

Thanks to Larry Pennisi, Marvin Chassman, Ted McCallion
