Procol Harum in 1975 on Supersonic (1)

The Final Thrust from the UK's ‘Mike Mansfield’s Supersonic’, a London Weekend Television show.  It features some particularly tight drumming from BJ. The track sounds more mobile than the album version and packs more clout. Copping on Hammond B3. The band are miming to a recorded track, different from the released version: the vocal mic is live, however. Procol were on show No 10 of forty-four programmes, which ran from 6 September 1975 to 2 April 1977 in two series. They shared the bill on this occasion with The Tymes, Thin Lizzy, Linda Lewis, Baker Gurvitz Army, Suzi Quatro, and Andy Bown. If you follow this link you will see that Procol's song is recorded as We Won't Let Go (thanks, Dave)

Guitar, drums and bass on an elevated stage

The weighty piano and organ on the lower echelons

Something faintly McCartneyesque about this photograph?

The fretmen coming to their microphones

Piano de-lidded, of course, for visual reasons ... although this allows the sound to dissipate all over the place. Full radial pedal-board for Chris!
