Procul Harum not good enough for the melodies
Around 5000 people came to Gröna Lund Thursday night to listen to the latest trendy band in pop, English Procul Harum. From the groups' Swedish first night in Gothenburg, Dagens Nyheter wrote that the melodic material saves the face of the group. That impression became even stronger yesterday. Procul can't offer much, musically and visually. One would like to hear the original melodies - written by pianist and singer Cary [sic] Brooker and the group's founder Keith Reid - being played by other, more skilful musicians.
Expressen published a picture with a caption from the Stockholm gigs. They seemed to like it better - maybe they went to different shows? In fact, there were two gigs the same night: first on the big out-door scene at fair ground Gröna Lund, some hours later, at the fair ground's discoteque.
Many thanks to Jonas Söderström who found this and translated it into English for BtP
