Merisairaat kasvot

Kun tanssin tutun tangon,

When I danced the familiar tango

valot vaihtui keltaisiin.

The lights changed to yellow

Näin kasvot merisairaat,

I saw the seasick face

lisää vain kun pyydettiin.

While we asked for more.

Taas oli niin kuin ennen,

Once again it was like before

hajut hien, hämärää.

The smell of sweat and the twilight

Kaikki tanssi ohi hymyillen

Everybody passed dancing and smiling

ja nauroi ikävää.

And laughed at the boredom / longing

Ja taas vain hetken verran

And again for a moment

näin vain tyhjän lattian,

I only saw the empty floor

ja ne kasvot merisairaat

And the seasick face

saivat varjon kalpean.

Got a pale shadow

Ja tunsin ohimennen

And in passing I felt

jonkun vieraan vartalon,

Some stranger's body

mutta jälleen valo vaihtui.

But the light changed once more

Taas ne kasvot siinä on.

And the face was there again

Niin kuin lintu joku nauroi,

Somebody laughed like a bird

tartuin käteen uudelleen,

I grabbed the hand again

mutta senkin jätin jälkeen

But I left it behind too

niin kuin kukan tungokseen.

like a flower in the crowd

Ja taas vain hetken verran

And again for a moment

näin vain tyhjän lattian,

I only saw the empty floor
