Journey's End : album-words

Play the Game • checked for BtP by Matthew Fisher

Thanks to the kind co-operation of Matthew Fisher, BtP is proud to present the authenticated words for his 1973 solo-album, Journey's End   Some folks say I'm a loser
I never had much money
I never had a friend that didn't sometime let me down
When I try to remember
To think of all the good times
I was just a victim of a joke that was going around

But the laughs they don't bother me at all
And if they think I'm gonna crawl
Well they'll have to think again
Tell my friends that if they're looking for some fun
I no longer am the one
That they can use to play their game

Sometimes I felt lonely
Sometimes I got angry
I sometimes had the feeling I'd been taken for a ride
Once I thought I had good friends
Friends I could be proud of
Once I thought they spoke the truth but now I know they lied

But the lies they don't bother me at all
And if they think I'm gonna crawl
Well they'll have to think again
Tell my friends that if they're lookin' for some fun
I no longer am the one
That they can use to play their game

Some folks say they're religious
But what do they believe in?
Do they believe God made me so that they could rob me blind?
I can look in the mirror
And look into my own eyes
I don't need no phoney shield for me to hide behind

No the thought doesn't bother me at all
And if they think I'm gonna crawl
Well they'll have to think again
Tell my friends that if they're looking for some fun
I no longer am the one
They can use to play their game
