The Salvo reissues giveaway, May 2009

The nice people at Salvo Records sent BtP this excellent album to give away. As with all BtP's competitions, you simply had to read and enact a simple instruction, and send us a message ... and this handsome recording could have been yours! Click on the image to see what tracks are on the album ... that's the info you need ...

As is our wont, we asked you to listen carefully to some music (of course, the real album sounds much better than our compressed mp3 that follows)

Click here to listen to an mp3 medley of the songs on the album (left). You'll hear that some tracks get a long excerpt, some a very short one. But the music of one song is excerpted twice ... and the name of that song is what you needed to send us (ignore the spoken introduction, by the way)

Click here to send us the title of the song that's used twice in our medley representing this Salvo re-issue album. The competition ends at 23:59 GMT on Sunday 24 May 2009.

If your answer is correct we'll put your name in a hat, and conduct the draw during Monday 25 May. The first name out of the hat wins Home ... surely Procol Harum's masterpiece ! Good luck!

The result

Thanks to everyone who submitted answers. Quite a lot of them were wide of the mark (perhaps some competitors failed to ignore the spoken introduction), but the majority of people sent The Dead Man's Dream, which was indeed the name of the duplicated track.

What you heard was clips from Barnyard Story, Whisky Train, Your Own Choice, Nothing That I Didn't Know, Whaling Stories (raw track), Whaling Stories, The Dead Man's Dream, About to Die, Piggy Pig Pig, Still There'll be More, Still There'll be More (raw track), and The Dead Man's Dream. What a brilliant album.

The names were put into the BtP Homburg at teatime on 25 May 2009 (no glamorous assistant picture this time either but thanks, Gus)

The lucky winner was Barbara Black from France, over on the European mainland: the Salvo CD will be on its way to you as soon as you send us your 'real' world address.

If you sent in the right answer, but your name stayed in the BtP Homburg, or if you sent in a differently-correct answer, commiserations: click here!
