Christmas Conundrums 2000

Our fab prizes, one unique, one almost unique …

This year's numerous prizes are, if possible, even more splendid than 1997's or 1998's or 1999's: this is largely thanks to the generosity of Procol Harum, Gary Brooker, Metro Records, BGO, Angel Air and of our very kind friends John and Christine at Shine On.

A

Totally unique … a year's free use of a prestige
'your.name@procolharum.com' web address

B

Almost unique (there are two only in existence) …
One full colour Salty Dog tee-shirt, signed by Procol Harum in September 2000:
Brooker, Fisher, Grabham, Whitehorn, Brzezicki, Pegg and Frank Mead (thanks, PH / SO)

C

One CD, Nothing But the Sea Between Us, being a souvenir of the Palers' Band at Guildford 2000, including A Rum Tale performed by Gary Brooker

D

One CD, Journey's End / I'll Be There,
Matthew Fisher's first two solo albums

E

One black-and-white Procol tee-shirt, first album-cover design,
size to suit winner (thanks, SO)

F

One CD, Funkist, by Bobby Harrison

G

One 32-page Redhill Glossy Souvenir Programme,
lavishly written and illustrated (thanks, SO)

H

One packed CD, Greatest Hits of Procol Harum, on the Metro label

I

One mint 1969 period-psychedelic full-colour poster (26 x 34 cm)
of Procol Harum with the Staple Singers (thanks, Gary)

J

One CD, Within Our House, by the (unplugged) Gary Brooker Ensemble including
a great Brooker / Reid track unavailable anywhere else (thanks, SO)

K

One A&M 45 rpm 7" promo single:
Broken Barricades (2:17) / Power Failure (3:13), unplayed (thanks, Gary)

Competitors should rank the above prizes in the order they favour them, and send in their preference with the solution to the puzzles. We shall allot prizes on a first-come, first-served basis, as in the past couple of years.

In the very unlikely event of there being fewer than eleven, the first people to submit correct answers will get more than their fair share of the prizes!

The quiz starts on Christmas Day and runs through to Twelfth Night. You can join in at any time and all you need is a pencil and an internet connection! The answer at the end will be a single word, as in previous years.
