Listen again to Gary Brooker's 1982 solo album, Lead me to the Water – which has been re-released (2011) remastered, with bonus track – or read the words here ... and answer today's simple question: now that 'the search is over' can you supply the missing word ... 'the ____ done'
the past ten days you have collected ten one-word answers from the
Brooker-penned songs on Lead me to the
Water. Now all you need to do is follow this short series of simple instructions
in order to
find the brief answer to the overall puzzle which, unusually this time, is
word ... but a number.
First of all: look at the initial letters of the ten answer-words, and re-arrange them to form one ten-letter word that Gary sings on the album. Make a note of the number of the track where he sings it.
Next: look at the final letters of the ten words, and re-arrange those to form another ten-letter word that Gary sings on the album. Make a note of the track-number of the song in which this second word is heard.
Finally: add up the track-numbers of all the songs on the Esoteric re-release of Lead me to the Water (not the original album!), and subtract the track-numbers of the songs in which those two ten-letter words occur.
That’s the ultimate answer: so send it to us! Use this special link, if you can.
If you're the first in, chronologically speaking, you win the
five albums kindly donated by Esoteric and Cherry Red
records. All subsequent correct entries will go into the BtP Homburg and on
8 October, BtP’s fourteenth birthday,
four names will be drawn from
the hat; and those four winners will also each win the five albums shown on our
Esoteric/Cherry Red Prog Prize page. So the last date for acceptable entries
will be 2309 GMT on 7 October.
Hurrah! And thanks to Vicky at Esoteric Records for the great puzzle prizes.
