Something Magic

Contemporary album review

Nik Clever writes to BtP

The following Something Magic review I've found in Sounds 6/77 (the best German music-magazine of the 70s in my opinion). Caution, it's malevolent!

Again a mighty small quantity is dolled up dramatic, orchestra laid under, and sung as if our life would depend on it. The more void something is, the
more it has to polish up itself to pretend something like a raison d'être."

(Though Something Magic isn't just my favourite Procol album that's really not my opinion. The German Sounds wasn't a branch of the English one, but completely editorially independent. I tried to translate the German words as good as possible into English)
