Shine On-line

Winter 1998 gigs

An exciting pre-Christmas treat is in store for us all on 18th December. The Charity Christmas Concert moves to the plush surroundings of Guildford Civic Hall.

Fans are already booking from all over the world (including one from Peru) for this unique gig. Jens Anders Ravnaas is hoping everyone will stay in the same hotel, The Jarvis near The Civic, ( 01483 564511 or Fax 01483 531160 and at The Tower near Club Riga in Southend, (01702 348635. (more detail here)

Alongside Gary are regulars Andy Fairweather-Low (lead guitar), Dave Bronze (bass guitar) and Henry Spinetti (drums) + friends Mick Abrahams of Blodwyn Pig and Beverley Skeete from Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings. Paul Carrack is also confirmed.

The support band is not short of class musicians either. The Robbie McIntosh Band will be taking the stage led by ex Pretender / Paul McCartney lead guitarist, Robbie McIntosh. His band consists of Mark Felton (harmonica) ex. Nine Below Zero and who’s just been touring with Oasis, Pino Palladino (bass) who’s worked with Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, pedal steel guitar player Melvin Duffy, well known for his work with Paul Young and Leo Sayer, and drummer Paul Beavis from Judy Tzuke and Robert Fripp’s bands. Robbie describes their music as ‘Nashville meets Chicago'. It’s a mix of original material and standards.
