Routinely updated this page

A correspondent wrote to BtP from a remote time-zone, supposing that his location placed him at a disadvantage in the finale of the Christmas Puzzles. Luckily this isn't the case: we simply note the time that each answer comes in. Wherever you are in the world, if you reach us first, second or third you get a guaranteed prize (near the top of your choice list); if you come in during the remaining 24 hours, your name goes in the BtP hat.

One's time-zone makes no difference at all, provided one remembers to check BtP at Midnight GMT, which is when the final clue will be posted.

In the matter of the prizes, do not omit anything from your prize-preference list. If there's a prize you don't want, or couldn't use, just put it at the end of your preference list.

In the matter of the questions themselves, perhaps it's worth offering a little reminder: you may find you need to read them quite carefully ... and the first answer that comes to mind may not be the right one. Balance commonsense with careful checking ...
