Procol Harum in London, December 2003

Basecamp Hotel for Palers

When Procol Harum play a major concert, experience shows that all the fans have a good time if we stay in the same hotel ... 'Beyond the Pale' started organising this for fans before Redhill 1997, and followed this with Guildford 1998, Guildford 2000, Kristiansand 2001, Manchester 2001, Croydon (2002), Lewisham (2003) and Hollywood (2003)

Islington can be an expensive area of London but BtP has once again struck a deal with the Jury's chain of hotels, with whom we have stayed in Manchester and Croydon. Procol fans know Jury's standard and have been well served by the company in the past. Have a look at the hotel interior here.

Jury's offers easy access to the Union Chapel (Map of N1 2XD here) where Procol are playing: it's a few minutes' walk from the hotel (Map of N1 9LA here) to the Angel tube station, one stop to Highbury-and-Islington, and a few more minutes' walk to the Union Chapel.

The address of Jury's Inn is 60 Pentonville Road, Islington, London N1 9LA, UK (Tel: +44 (0) 207 282 5500 Fax: +44 (0) 207 282 5511). 'Beyond the Pale' has been able to negotiate the substantial reduction of twenty-six pounds per night, for any room booked at Jury's by someone mentioning 'Beyond the Pale'. The room charge is therefore down to 80 pounds a night including tax; the rooms sleep one, two or three persons at this price, so sharing is encouraged!

To book: just contact the hotel direct (all details here) and make sure you mention 'Beyond the Pale' in order to claim your price concession.

Why not stay longer and do some Christmas shopping, either before or after the gig? Jury's offers a great London location in trendy Islington, a lively sophisticated area with thriving antique shops, bars and acclaimed restaurants. It's easily accessible by rail or underground: the tube, take the Northern Line to Angel, or walk up the Pentonville Road from King's Cross mainline station.
