Queen Elizabeth II celebrates fifty years on the British Throne in 2002. DJ Terry Wogan has launched a search to find the UK's favourite piece of music to mark this Golden Jubilee. BBC Radio 2 is asking listeners to 'trawl their musical memories' to choose their favourite song from the past 50 years. The station will compile a list of classic tunes by British artists which will be counted down over the Jubilee weekend in June.

Let us hope that … given suitable 'trawling' … A Whiter Shade of Pale can be propelled to the top of this chart, which will be broadcast in June during the 2002 Procol tour, and, of course, during the time that AWSoP originally ruled the (air)waves in 1967.
